How to Solve the Rubik’s Cube in 7 Easy Steps [Video Explained]
To solve the Rubik’s Cube you just have to follow 7 easy steps. No more, no less. I met this guy doing some research and it’s incredible how easy can anyone solve the Rubik’s Cube, even if never has solved it before. The first thing you have to do is to get a green cross and you continue with some algorithms and positioning the cube in certain ways. This post is to mention a few thing that you should be awared when solving the Rubik’s Cube.
Believe it or not there are seven easy steps to solve the Rubik’s cube, and there should be. If you think about it a Rubik’s Cube is a graphical and physical equation. It has one only correct answer to the problem but multiple ways to solve it, multiple solutions for one only right result.
The first time I had a Rubik’s Cube on my hands I didn’t thought about anything of that. In fact, I just saw it as an entertaining classy toy. My dad once told me that the cube was the most popular toy in the 80’s and that sold millions and millions of units all around the world. It was sort of a crazy phenomenon such as the hula hoop.
When you first try to solve the Rubik’s Cube you think that it will magically get solved with some few movements. Trust me, that only happened once to me after days of screwing the cube in different ways. After that I lost interest and the years passed.
Last week I bought a new Cube for One Dollar. It’s amazing how cheap they are considering how busy they keep you. But this time though, I went immediately to Youtube and searched for videos on how to solve the Rubik’s Cube in X Number of Steps, and I found a guy that has recorded a sequence of videos and has established a seven-step way to solve the cube. This guy is Dan Brown and he is famous not for writing the Da Vinci Code but for solving the Rubik’s cube among other cool things.
Anyways, I’m writing this Post not to re-invent the wheel here or to re-write what he has already done. Instead, I’m going to remark a few important details that you have to be aware of when going through the steps.
Thinks to Know when Solving the Rubik’s Cube
Step one to solve the Cube is to get a green cross (or whatever color you choose to start with). When doing this you’ll screw the green top edges sometimes. This is OK, to get the others sometimes it’s necessary to do that.
Write the name of the seven steps in one paper and bellow of each step the algorithms necessary to complete the steps. I did it and worked fine. When I solved the cube the first five times I read the whole process and algorithms over and over. After ten times tops you memorize everything and won’t need the annotations anymore.
Pay special attention to the sides where the completed colors are when passing to the other sections of the step. Because if you have the cube in some opposite way you can return to what you have already done and it might be frustrating.
And finally, in step seven, when you have almost completed the Rubik’s cube, stay with the same front color that you selected at first and just turn the top side. In this final step the front will always be the same and you just turn the top in order to complete the corners. If you forget this you will screw everything up. By the way, in this final step it all looks like if you were messing the whole thing but you are not. It will all magically fit in place. You just have to be careful.
And that’s it, you’re done! You’ve solved the Rubik’s Cube following the Dan Brown’s seven steps.
